By using taskSplit, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.

This policy applies to all visitors, registered users, and others who access our platform.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties.

We collect information to provide a better, more secure experience. This falls into three main categories:

Account & Identity Data: Name, email address, password, profile settings, and login history (stored securely).

Workspace & Collaboration Data: Projects, tasks, roles, descriptions, comments, and file attachments you upload to the platform.

Technical & Usage Data: IP addresses, user agent details, browser types, session activity, cookies, and page visit duration.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your data enables us to run taskSplit efficiently and securely. We use it to:

Create and manage your workspace, projects, and custom permissions.

Facilitate real-time team collaboration, messaging, and assignments.

Authenticate your identity via password or secure One-Time Password (OTP).

Analyze platform health, improve feature layouts, and resolve bug reports.

Send critical transactional emails (e.g. registration welcome, security alerts).

4. Data Security & Storage

We implement rigorous physical, administrative, and technical safeguards designed to secure your data against unauthorized access, modification, or destruction.

All communications are encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS protocols.

Sensitive database information (such as user passwords) is stored hashed using bcrypt.

Access to personal databases is strictly restricted to authorized staff with verified credentials.

5. Data Retention & Account Deletion

We retain your personal data and project records only as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide our services. You have control over your account data and may request its removal at any time.

You can modify or update your profile details at any time through the Profile Settings panel.

You can submit a verified account deletion request through our public deletion page — no login required.

Deletion requests are reviewed manually by our admin team before any data is removed.

Once approved, your profile, workspaces, projects, tasks, and sessions are permanently erased and cannot be recovered.

6. Data Sharing & Third-Party Integrations

We do not sell your personal data. We only share information with reliable service providers essential to running our platform under strict data-protection agreements:

Hosting & Infrastructure: Encrypted cloud database systems and server networks (e.g., MongoDB Atlas, Vercel).

Email Systems: Services used to deliver OTP verification codes and project notification emails.

Compliance & Law: Only when legally required to satisfy subpoena, government inquiry, or public safety request.

7. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar browser storage mechanisms to improve user sessions and security:

Authentication Cookies: To remember your session token so you don't have to log in repeatedly.

Theme Settings: Storing your preference for Dark Mode / Light Mode and custom system accent colors.
